Select ripe pineapple – sweet, juicy, and fragrant, naturally ripened in the sun, not in a container or in storage. Thanks to that, it has a full flavor, rich color, and a deep aroma.
Compared to typical store-bought pineapples, it has a richer flavor, a finer texture, and a pleasant sweetness without sharp acidity. It doesn’t sting your tongue and is ready to slice and enjoy right away.
"Super Sweet" pineapple variety
The MD2 pineapple variety, also known as “Super Sweet,” is our most popular pineapple variety. The fruit has a characteristic golden-yellow skin with a distinctly aromatic fragrance. The flesh is juicy, sweet, and low in fiber, making this variety an excellent choice for those who appreciate a refreshing, sweet pineapple flavor.
How to cut a pineapple : Trim the top and bottom of the pineapple (twist off the crown; you can then plant it and grow a new plant). Next, slice off the peel from top to bottom. Don’t cut too deep, so you don’t create unnecessary waste, then remove any outer irregularities and clean the surface thoroughly – using a slanted lengthwise cut creates a very elegant look and reduces waste. Then slice the pineapple into thin rounds or triangular pieces.
Serving: Serve pineapple fresh as part of an exotic fruit salad, or use it as decoration for your tropical cocktails.
Storage: Pineapple should ideally be stored at around 10–12 °C. Temperatures that are too low can damage the fruit’s flavor and texture, while temperatures that are too high can cause it to ripen too quickly.
Separating from other fruit: Pineapple produces ethylene gas, which can speed up the ripening of other fruit. Therefore, it’s recommended to store pineapple separately from other produce.
If you have an overripe pineapple, you can store it in the refrigerator and consume it as soon as possible. Overripe pineapple can also be used to make juicy cocktails, smoothies, or desserts.
Check the pineapple regularly. If it starts to lose its typical aroma or shows signs of spots or softening, it’s time to consume it or process it.
